FOR THE ARTS ANNOUNCES IT WILL EXCEED 2006 CAMPAIGN GOAL
OF $7,654,321
New
Board Members and Officers Are Also Elected at 2006 Annual
Meeting; Campaign Celebration Set for Tuesday, July 18,
Noon, at Actors Theatre
Louisville,
KY —At its Annual Meeting today, the Fund for the
Arts announced that preliminary indications show the organization
exceeding its 2006 fund raising goal of $7,654,321. A final
campaign total will be the publicly announced at the Fund
for the Arts campaign celebration on Tuesday, July 18, noon,
at Actors Theatre. The Fund for the Arts FY06 fund raising
campaign and fiscal year both close on June 30, 2006.
“Because
of an overwhelming response from more of our friends, families,
neighbors and colleagues to this year's Fund for the Arts
campaign, we are confident that we will surpass our 2006
fund raising goal,” said Herbert “Bud” J. Schardein, Chair
of the Fund for the Arts 2006 Campaign. “Following the natural
disasters in other parts of the world, we are pleased that
our citizens have remained vigilant in protecting the things
that are important to a healthy community and bring smiles
to the faces of thousands of children and families throughout
the region.
New
members and officers elected to the Fund for the Arts Executive
Committee include: P. Richard Anderson, Board Chair, Greenebaum

At
the Annual meeting, the Fund for the Arts also approved
a slate of new members who will join its Board of Directors.
These include: James Allen, J.J.B. Hilliard W. L. Lyons;
Robert J. Arnold, Irwin Union Bank; Rob Bader, Trover Solutions;
Kevin S. Boyle, American Commercial Lines; Wes Beckner,
BB&T; Sam Corbett, Sam Meyers Formal Wear; Arch Gleason,
Kentucky Lottery; James Goldberg, Stoll Keenon Ogden; James
Clay Smith, Central Bank; and Frank Hower, Jr., National
City.

highlights of the Fund for the Arts Annual Meeting included:
- FY07
Total Member Group Allocations to Increase
As
a direct result of a successful fund raising campaign, the
Fund for the Arts will provide an increased total amount
of funds to its 15 member groups. A proposed total of $4,250,000
will be confirmed in allocations to Fund for the Arts member
groups following the close of FY06 on June 30, 2006 and
the reporting of final campaign figures.
- $100,000
Allocated to Support New “Every Child Initiative” for
Jefferson County Public Schools
The
Fund for the Arts is allocating $100,000 to its School and
Community Grants program to support its new “Every Child
Initiative.” Funds will be available to teachers and schools
in the Jefferson County Public School district to bring
a Fund for the Arts member group into classrooms or to make
an Arts experience accessible outside of the classroom.
The goal is to make an Arts opportunity from a Fund for
the Arts member group available to every child in the public
school system at least once per year in grades K-12. Further
details including how and when to apply for these grants
will be announced in coming months.
- Employee/Workplace
Giving Projected to Increase by 8% in FY06; 17 New Employee
Campaigns Secured
Five
major employee/workplace campaigns helped drive significant
fund raising increases in employee/workplace giving. Metro
Louisville, Jefferson County Public Schools , Yum! Brands,
Chase and Brown-Forman Corp. together raised $184,000 more
than they did in FY05 to contribute to a project increase
of 8% or more than $3 million in employee/workplace giving
to the Arts for FY06. The number of new employee/workplace
campaigns also increased from 15 secured in FY05 to 17 secured
in FY06 for a total of $29,467 from 264 donors.
- Corporate
Giving Projected to Increase by 3% in FY06
An
increase of 3% in the total amount of corporate dollars
raised is projected at the close of FY06.
Campaign
Celebration Scheduled for Tuesday, July 18, Noon, at Actors
Theatre
The
Fund for the Arts has scheduled its Campaign Celebration
event for Tuesday, July 18, noon, at Actors Theatre. The
celebration recognizes and acknowledges outstanding volunteers,
employee/workplace campaigns with incredible increases,
and the top employee/workplace campaigns. Entertainment
for the celebration will include a live American Idol-style
showcase that will highlight some of the best performances
from employee/workplace Idol competitions. The hour-long
event is free and open to the public, however, reservations
should be made by calling the Fund for the Arts at (502)
582-0100.
Fund
for the Arts
The
Fund for the Arts provides programming and administrative
support to twenty-four member groups and programs, including
grants to nearly 200 community organizations and schools,
throughout the Louisville , Kentucky region. The Fund for
the Arts is the oldest united arts fund in the country and
has raised over $100 million in the community since its
establishment in 1949.
