William Tolbert Whittenberg Scholarship

Purpose:
The William Tolbert Whittenberg Scholarship for Excellence was established in 1987 to enable gifted students with limited financial support to pursue advanced study in the performing arts.

The amount of the award will be between $2,000 and $5,000. The award is for one year only and recipients are not eligible to apply in subsequent years.

Recipients are encouraged to keep the Fund for the Arts informed of the impact of the award and the progress of their careers.

Who is Eligible?:
The applicant must be a resident of the Kentuckiana region, between the ages of 16 and 20 and plans to pursue a professional career in the performing arts.

The financial support is to be used solely for advanced professional training in the performing arts and may be used towards such expenses as tuition at an institute of higher learning, apprenticeship with a coach or company, seminars or workshops (including travel expenses and lodging), or advanced study. The scholarship may NOT be used for the purchase of instruments or equipment.

Funds will not be awarded if such award will reduce or replace other financial support available to the applicant.
