Louisville, KY – The Fund for the Arts announced that applications for the Whittenberg Scholarship are now being accepted and the deadline to apply has been extended to Friday, March 24, 2006.

Established in 1987 by Joan Whittenberg, the William Tolbert Whittenberg Scholarship for Excellence was designed to enable gifted students to pursue advanced study or a professional career in the performing arts. To be eligible, applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 20 and planning a career in the performing arts. The award may only be used for the support of advanced professional training in the arts and will be between $2000 and $5000 for one year.
